THE 116TH CENTURY
"Space Case" UulQuaSyn, a historiographer in the society known as the Union, conducts research into a quasi-mythical figure named Francisco Cumberland, who lived in the ancient era known as the Early Federation. UulQauSyn, aided by his machine companion AmZitzKa, delves into long-forgotten records, and derives insight into extinct races that were the progenitors of the various races that make up the Union. The historiographers even construct a simulacrum of Cumberland to converse with, enabling them to relive the twenty-third and twenty-fourth centuries.

A good alternative title for this story, inspired by the last episode of the fourth season of Babylon 5, would be "The Deconstruction of Falling Star Trek."
